The earth is like our mother, she gives life to all the living things on the earth and provides us with air, food, water and other essential things we need for living. Once she was beautiful and rich, but now she becomes dirtier and dirtier, poorer and poorer. It is due to what we have done to her. Please have a look at her: polluted rivers and lakes, growing deserts, the destruction of the forests and wild life and the depletion of the ozone layer……. It is time for us to love her, take care of her and cure her. We should save the earth so as to save ourselves.

四: 活动过程：

1.听解释、辨单词
　教师说出环保词汇的英语解释，让学生猜单词，以考察他们对环保词汇的掌握情况。参考词汇:
　  pollute:to make (water, air, earth, etc) dirty or harmful to people, animals and plants
   waste:unwanted material
   dustbin:a large container for rubbish from a house or other building
   recycle:to collect and treat (rubbish) to produce useful materials which can be used again

　2.　开展环境调研活动
   　教师将学生分成4至5人一小组，开展环境调研活动，让学生在学校或自家住宅等地观察环境污染状况或破坏环境的行为，就其中一个主题，出一份手抄报,并提出解决办法。
　
　　3.阅读环保新闻
      由于环境遭受破坏，近年来经常出现由恶劣环境引起的灾害，如沙尘暴、酸雨、旱灾等。教师可要求学生在网上搜索关于灾害的新闻报道，而后让学生分小组交流。通过阅读新闻类文章，使学生了解新闻写作的特点。参考新闻报道:
 China also suffers from sandstorm invasions
        Most of the sandstorms that have swept China this year originated from foreign land, a Chinese official in charge of desertification control said Monday. The invasions can partly explain the frequent occurrences of sandstorms despite China's achievements in desertification control. Since the start of this spring, the north and northwestern Chinese regions have been hit by 17 sandstorms. The land suffering from desertification has been decreasing by 7,585 sq km annually in China, and the area of sandy land has also been falling by 1,284 sq km a year.
